About Erin

Erin is a graduate of Boston College, a life-long resident of Scituate, MA, and a mother of three. With more than 30 years of experience in the publishing industry, she is a poet, an essayist, a memoirist, an author, and a frequently published journalist for several genres — most notably human interest, academia, and social justice. As Chief Editor of Wheelock Magazine at Wheelock College, Erin produced what she considers to be her finest and most impactful work as a professional writer. The Wheelock College mission was to improve the lives of children and families, so the Magazine gave her a platform to promote education equality and social justice globally. She also co-wrote 130 Years of Inspiring a World of Good with esteemed Wheelock professors and historians to commemorate the College’s 130th anniversary and its iconic founder, Lucy Wheelock.

Since the inception of Advantage Essay in 2021, of which she is the founder, Erin has focused her expertise on a niche marketplace — the college application essay. It is gratifying, she says, to mentor students as they journey through deep self-reflection to tell rich stories that profoundly mirror who they are. It is a storytelling milestone that ultimately highlights their unwavering strengths and values. She has coached more than 200 seniors in high school, guiding them from concept to finished, polished essays that differentiate them from other students with similar academic credentials. Erin also contracts with a college consulting company, providing feedback on the quality of their clients’ essays. She has been a final editor for more than 300 college essays for this company.

For Erin, writing has been a tool to self-reflect, express herself creatively, and sound her voice. Whether imparting ideas, world views, or stories, she considers writing an invaluable way to fashion enjoyment for others, inspire meaningful conversations, provoke thought, and even effect change. Writing, she says, creates a community of people who understand where you have been and where you would like to go.

Erin spends much of her spare time as a writer and photographer specializing in senior portraits. She also enjoys sitting down at her electronic drum set to strike up a beat. Pickleball is a new endeavor, and though she has been athletic in the past, this sport has been more fodder for laughter with her friends than competition. Her kids, now in their 20s, have been her muses and greatest loves. Her time with them, her sisters, and her friends is paramount.
